Who is Dig the Dunes?
Dig the Dunes is website that uncovers some of the area’s finest hidden treasures. The beaches, the trails, the dunes, the shops & restaurants, the artists…and the people. You see all the posts and photos, but who is behind them? Here are some of the key faces that make up Dig the Dunes.
Eve Landsman-Wierzbicki, founder
Dig the Dunes started with Eve’s love of nature. She grew up in the area, graduated from IU, lived in Chicago and then moved back in 2004. It wasn’t until about 6 years ago that Eve started taking long walks with her dog and discovered so much of the beauty that this area has to offer. She began taking photos and posting them on her Facebook page and found that people really enjoyed seeing them. Watching her page grow, made Eve want to share more and more. Soon she was writing blog posts and adding all sorts of things to the website.
Eve is excited to grow Dig the Dunes. She has grown her local business directory and expanded many sections of the site, including the trails & beaches and geology of the dunes. She considers dig the dunes to be a complete social media platform, engaging her audience in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and her website.
Over the past year, Dig the Dunes has sponsored many events like photography classes, guided hikes, bootcamp on the beach and more!
As things continue to grow, Eve can no longer do it by herself. She is so lucky to have added a group of dedicated writers, photographers, designers and nature lovers to her team
Stephen Lehman, photographer/writer
Stephen is a Michigan City based Pastor/Photographer. He enjoys landscape photography, long exposures, and candid portraiture. His love for adventure and nature fuels his passion to capture each of those moments. He loves the south shore area and hopes that others can discover it’s beauty through his photography. Stephen is working diligently on the trails and beaches section with write-ups and his beautiful photos. He also taught the very popular Sunset Photography class which runs once a month from May thru September.
Patty Kostro, geologist/writer
Patty is a recent graduate from Indiana University Northwest where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Geology. She currently holds an adjunct faculty position at IUN where she teaches students about rocks, minerals and topography for the Introductory to Earth Science labs. She is passionate about water and now that she has graduated, she hopes to pursue her career in hydrogeology. Patty is a featured blogger on digthedunes.com writing each month and teaching readers about the “Geology of the Dunes”.
Izzy Endsley, designer/writer/web programmer
Izzy is 23 and has lived in NWI all her life. She grew up running the streets of Tamarack without shoes in the summer and “shredding” the hill at The Pines in the winter. Izzy graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Arts studying Visual Communications Design. Izzy is starting to get involved more with the community and is very excited to help with Dig the Dunes! Izzy has worked on several t-shirt designs and will be running the “shop” on DigtheDunes.com. Izzy’s first big project was to spearhead the Dig the Dunes calendar.
Evan Trotta, finance
Debbie Barkowski, writer
Angie Zucker, writer/on-the-go
Angie and Eve have been a friends since college. Angie loves being outside, doing fun things and seeing new areas. Angie helps out on the Dig the Dunes “on-the-go” series, helping find new trails and towns to feature and being a partner in crime as they venture out to explore new places.

How have you guys overlooked Matey’s as one of the premier outdoor spaces in the greater dunes area?
DigTheDunes
Hi Mark, there were so many, it was hard to get them all in! That’s a good one though and we will keep it in mind if we ever do another list. You are welcome to add it to the comments at the bottom of that post, so that others will know about them. Thanks!
