Chicago writer Nelson Algren kept a second home in Miller throughout the 1950’s. Best known for his novels “The Man with the Golden Arm” and “A Walk on the Wild Side,” (inspiration for Lou Reed’s classic song, “Walk on the Wild Side”) Algren was one of the most recognized and respected writers in America. His decades long affair with French existentialist and feminist, Simone de Beauvoir, continues to intrigue readers. Schedule a tour for a street side view of Algren’s love shack and to visit the Museum, which features Algren’s typewriter, desk and rare documents as well as a collection of Art Shay photographs. More information here,
