It’s March, which means Spring is right around the corner! Celebrate by jumping on the Paddy Wagon after the St. Patrick’s Day parade, enjoy Maple Sugar Time at Chellberg Farm or chill out at Corkscrew & Brew. We found ten top events to help keep you busy all month long!

1:        March 3 ~ Bare Bones Beer Dinner featuring Windmill Brewing ~ LaPorte, IN

Join Bare Bones for their second beer dinner featuring six beers and six courses! Windmill Brewing will be there to talk about the beers and the brewery and Chef Blake will discuss the food and the pairings. Tickets are limited, purchase in advance here.

2:        March 7 ~ St. Patrick’s Day Parade ~ New Buffalo, MI and Michigan City, IN

There’s lot of fun events happening for St Patricks Day and we have the information on two local parades! Starting in New Buffalo at 11am (Eastern time) the parade kicks off at the North Whittaker Street Bridge. Kick it up a notch at Dooley’s Lakehouse Pub for the Shamrock Shenanigans After Party. Four live bands, bag pipers, Irish fare, and spirits under heated big top tents!

Then at 1pm (Central time) in Michigan City, celebrate with friends and family as the parade once again stomps down Franklin Street. There will be a bevy of floats, classic cars, custom choppers, bagpipers, ¬†performers, and MORE! You won’t want to miss this inaugural St. Patrick’s Parade.

3:        March 7 ~ Paddy Wagon Bus Tour! ~ Michigan City, IN

St. Patrick‚Äôs Day Paddy Wagon event! The buses will run after the parade from 3pm until 10pm. This free event is brought to you by all of the participating bars, clubs and pubs. Come celebrate St. Patrick’s in Michigan City on March 7th! The busses will make continuous loops between Barker Pub, Local Option, St. Joe Club, 4 stop, Leeds, McGinnis, 3 sheets, Knuckleheads and Mateys!

4:       March 7/8 & 14/15 ~ Maple Sugar Time ~ Chesterton, IN

Enjoy a taste of spring at the Indiana Dunes National Park’s 42nd annual Maple Sugar Time festival. The Chellberg Farm will be bustling with maple sugaring activities! One-hour tours start every 20 minutes each day. Learn how American Indians first boiled maple sap into sugar and how early settlers used large iron kettles to make syrup. Then, stand in the warm steam of the sugar shack where sap is still boiled down the way the Chellberg family did it back in the 1930s. Try your hand at drilling a tap hole, lugging heavy sap buckets using an old-fashioned yoke, or just enjoying a free taste of pure maple syrup!

5:       March 14 ~ Corkscrew & Brew ~ Chesterton, IN

Set in Chesterton’s beautiful Thomas Centennial Park, the Fifth Annual Corkscrew & Brew will gather local wineries and breweries for this springtime, tasting. There will be food available for purchase as well as music to be enjoyed by all. This event is a fundraiser for the Duneland Chamber of Commerce and Thomas Centennial Park. 6:        March 15 ~ Scavenger Hunt ~ Michigan City, IN

Who is ready for a walking/running Scavenger Hunt? It’s that time of year to get out, get running (or walking) and go on a Dig the Dunes scavenger hunt! This event was so much fun last year that we decided to do it again. Create a team or go on your own. Run/Walk approximately three miles around the Michigan City Lakefront and North Side.

This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY event! Purchase your tickets in advance¬†here. Ticket includes scavenger hunt, a beer and apps! Under 21? Soda instead of beer…or parents can take the drink. Go individually or as a team up to 4. Team must travel together.

7:        March 15 ~ David’s Deli Corned Beef Off ~ New Buffalo, MI

Join David’s Delicatessen in New Buffalo, Michigan for their annual Corned Beef Off. For the tenth year running there will be over a dozen corned beefs from local and national purveyors. You’ll enjoy sampling all of them, and raising funds for a good cause. This year the proceeds will support the work of Harbor Country Mission, a local non-profit that works to aid those who are in and on the border of financial poverty. $15 admission, drinks for sale.

8:        March 18 ~ Build A Beach Gnome ~ Valparaiso, IN

Join Dig The Dunes at Anderson Winery where you choose from a variety of beach themed gnomes. Gnomes can be up to 12 inches tall and customized just how you like it with lots of different trinkets to choose from. Purchase your tickets in advance here. Cost includes all materials, instruction and one drink. These classes are selling out fast! Less than 10 spots remain for this one.

9:        March 22nd ~ A Hollywood WhoDunnit ~ Michigan City, IN

Dig the Dunes is excited to team up with the Brewery Lodge for this Hollywood Whodunnit Murder Mystery Dinner put on by the Murder Mystery Co. The Lodge will transform into the estate of Sir Warren Peace for the evening and guests will get thrown into a night of mystery, intrigue, murder and fun that you will never forget!

Included with your ticket is an overnight stay, three course dinner for 2, the murder mystery show, a welcome drink and a Continental Breakfast in the morning. Space is very limited. Purchase your tickets in advance here.

10:        March 29 ~ Indiana Dunes State Park Beach Clean Up ~ Chesterton, IN

Tired of trash everywhere you look? Let’s do something about it! Meet at the pavilion where gloves and trash bags will be provided. We will walk east toward Michigan City for 1 hour then head back.

Looking ahead:     April 1 ~ Beer Run ~ Michigan City, IN

Our Beer Runs Are Back! We are kicking off the season at Burn ‘Em Brewing with our run to Tryon Farm. Runners and walkers welcome! These are fun runs. Everyone runs on their own. No timing or awards. It’s all about getting out and having a good time! Price includes run, beer & tip. Purchase your tickets in advance here.¬†$7 cash at the door!
