Summer is in full swing and we have a variety of events to help you get out and enjoy this beautiful weather! Join us on a harbor cruise or check out one of the many festivals happening in August. Mark your calendars so you don’t miss out!
1: August 1- Mediterranean Dunes Cruise – Michigan City, IN
Come aboard the Emita II in Michigan City for a sunset cruise! Welcome beer upon boarding!
Join your hosts Harbor Country Adventures, Burn Em Brewing, Chickpea Fresh Mediterranean and Dig the Dunes.
Mediterranean food and beer stations will be set up around the boat. Grab a table or walk around and enjoy the views from both the upper outdoor deck and lower enclosed deck. Price includes 4 beer samples, 4 food stations and the sunset cruise. There will also be a cash bar available. Tickets can be purchased here.

2: August 2- South Shore Summer Music Festival – West Beach, Portage, IN
Save the date for the annual South Shore Summer Festival with the Northwest Indiana Symphony at the parking lot at West Beach on Friday, August 2nd. Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Bring your lawn chair, your favorite snacks and enjoy the music! And bring the kiddos…we have a fun hands-on instrument petting zoo provided by Plum Grove Music in Lowell.
3: August 3– Chesterton Art Fair – Chesterton, IN
The 61st Annual Chesterton Art Fair will take place on August 3-4 at Dogwood Park in Chesterton, Indiana. Over 100 artists from all over the country will take place in this well-established event. Visitors will find talented work in a huge variety of mediums from jewelry to pottery to fiber to paintings and more! To accompany the field of artists will be food vendors and musicians. The hours are Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 10-4. Tickets for the event are $5 for a single day, or $7 for both days and can be purchased here. Children ages 12 and under get in free. Parking is free. 4: August 7- Dig the Dunes Beer Run – Valparaiso, IN
Join us for our Beer Run Summer Party at Meadowbrook in Valpo! Run the trails at Meadowbrook and then head back to the meeting spot for some food, Burn ‘Em beer and live entertainment! Tickets can be purchased in advance here!
5: August 9– New Buffalo Ship and Shore Festival – New Buffalo, MI
Ship and Shore is back in 2019! A 3-day festival bringing live music to New Buffalo while also highlighting the wonderful lakefront amenities, including a beautiful beach and harbor, fishing tours, surfing, and of course the great shopping and dining. 6: August 9- Jimmy Buffett Harbor Party & Sunset Cruise – Michigan City, IN
Dig the Dunes is teaming up with Harbor Country Adventures for a series of Friday night harbor parties and sunset cruises. Join us for Cheeseburger in Paradise on August 9 as we close out the season. Music with Flip Flop Dave, cheeseburgers and other fun stuff provided by Bartlett’s Fish Camp and of course some beer.

7: August 10- Waves of Laughter – Three Oaks, MI
Join Dig the Dunes and Colleen Brennan as they bring some of Chicagoland’s top comedians to the shores of Lake Michigan. Six comedians, lots of laughs. New location! This year we are very excited to bring Waves to the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks! And it will be on a SATURDAY night! Tickets can be purchased here.

8: August 15- Hobart Lakefront Festival – Hobart, IN
Hobart Lakefront Festival is a 4 day event packed full of family fun starting Thursday August 15 through Sunday August 18!!! Filled with craft and food vendors, a beer garden, live music, different contests and fireworks. There is sure to be something for everyone in the family!
9: August 17- Lubeznik Arts Festival – Michigan City, IN
The 2019 Lubeznik Arts Festival (LAF), held by Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA), returns for its 38th year. LAF takes place on LCA’s grounds to connect festival-goers to our dynamic programming and exhibitions. This event features fine art and fine craft exhibitors alongside contemporary art galleries, food and interactive family activities. All proceeds from this event are invested back in the community.
• $5 per day
• FREE for LCA members, children ages 16 & under and active military personnel with ID
Free off-site parking and shuttle service are available.
10: August 25– Beer & Wine Lover’s Artisan Faire – Michgian City, IN
Sip, stroll and stay all day at the Brewery Lodge! Join Dig the Dunes and the Brewery Lodge as we invite you to our first Beer & Wine Lover’s Artisan Faire!
Stroll the grounds and tour the lodge while sipping, shopping and seeing our many artisans demonstrate their skills. Stay tuned. More information coming soon….but think beach glass wire wrapping, dancing, live music, yoga, painting, mixology and more. A growing list of vendors, food, beer and wine will be available right here. 11: August 25- The Lyric Opera at the Gardens – Michigan City, IN
Friendship Botanic Gardens is proud to host to a special evening of world-class artistry from the Lyric Opera of Chicago. All proceeds contribute to the continued restoration and maintenance of Friendship Botanic Gardens, a historic 105 acre botanical park in Michigan City that serves as the region’s premiere destination where nature meets culture.
Regular seating available for $45, Premium seating (first 4 rows) available for $50. Please note: Premium seating is limited to 40 people. Ticket can be purchased here.
Light appetizers included with your ticket. A cash bar with beer and wine will be on site.
12: August 31- Taste of Duneland – Chesterton, IN
This summer the Duneland Chamber of Commerce is hosting Taste of Duneland on Saturday, August 31, from 10:00 am – 10:00 pm, in beautiful Thomas Centennial Park in Chesterton.
Taste of Duneland is a day of fun for the entire community, attracting hundreds to downtown Chesterton Labor Day weekend. With the European Market participating the event features food tastings, a variety of vendor booths, bouncy houses, live entertainment, dancing, children’s activities, and a beer/wine garden.
