Summer has officially arrived and there are lots of fun events going on this month! From Independence Day activities to Harbor parties and cruises there is something for everyone.

1:        July 1- Fireworks on the Lakefront – Porter, IN

The Duneland Chamber of Commerce will host the 11th Annual Fireworks on the Lakefront at the Indiana Dunes State Park. Join the Chamber for food vendors and a spectacular fireworks show. Food vendors will begin selling at 6:00 pm and the fireworks show will begin at 9:15 pm.

Entrance to the Indiana Dunes State Park is $7 per car or $12 per car with an out-of-state license plate. Please be aware that there will be a high amount of traffic at the State Park and Porter Beach. Guests are also asked not to bring any fireworks to this professional fireworks show, to avoid fire hazards. Alcohol is not permitted within Indiana Dunes State Park.

2:        July 3-  7th Annual Fireworks Party – Baroda, MI

Kick off your 4th of July weekend celebration with Baroda’s fireworks show! Round Barn invites you to enjoy this explosive presentation seated in our own backyard, along with some great music, cold drinks, and a delicious BBQ. Gates open at 6 p.m. with P.T. and The Cruisers playing from 7-10 p.m.— until the fireworks begin at dusk. We will have some seating available but it’s a good idea to bring a chair. General admission is $5. Wine and Mug Club members get in free! A portion of admission will be given to the Baroda Township Fire Department to aid in their fundraising for an auto extraction cutter. For the safety of our furry friends, no pets, please.

3:        July 4- Fourth of July Rooftop Party – Michigan City, IN

Join Sunset Grille for a Fourth of July party on the rooftop! Live music with Quinn Guillermo from 6-8pm. Fireworks at dusk. Get the best view around! Food and drinks available. $10 cover, kids under 10 are free. There is limited space so get your ticket in advance here.  They will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Save the Dunes!

4:        July 4- City of Valparaiso 4th of July Celebration – Valparaiso, IN

Join the Valparaiso community for one of the best entertainment and fireworks shows in the area! Event kicks off at 6:30pm with live music by Jonny James, food trucks from NWI Food Truck Fest and patriotic events leading up to the show. The fireworks will begin at approximately 9:15pm by ACE Pyro LLC. Location: Urschel field, Valparaiso Street and Vale Park Road Free Public Parking: 2564 Valley Drive

5:        July 6-7- Miller Garden Walk – Miller, IN

Join the Miller Garden Club on July 6 & 7 for a garden walk featuring six “secret” gardens among the dunes. The tours will begin at the Marquette Park Aquatorium and will run from 10am – 3pm each day, rain or shine. Visit gardens with ponds, waterfalls, ornamental trees, a pergola and more! This is the 19th year for the walk and the theme this year is “Just Let It Grow!”.

6:        July 12- Ship of Fools Friday Night Cruise – Michigan City, IN

Dead Heads come one, come all and join us on the Ship of Fools! Start out with some great live music, veggie burritos, grilled cheese and more provided by Bartlett’s Fish Camp. Beer provided by local breweries. Take the cruise or just hang out, eat, drink and listen to some great music at Millenium Park in Michigan City. 7:        July 12- Three Little Birds Market – Valparaiso, IN

The Three Little Birds Market Shops & Hops Event will feature amazing one-of-a-kind, hand-made, up-cycled vendors. Stop by for great shopping, food, live music, and a few Beers from local Breweries and drinks at the bar. Admission is $5 for ages 13 +. Kids under 13 free. 8:        July 13- Tryon Farm Institute Lake Michigan Cruise – Michigan City, IN

Come cruise with us on Lake Michigan!!! Tryon Farm Institute is hosting a two hour fundraising cruise on the Emita II and they would love for you to join them. There will be food, cash bar and prizes. Purchase your tickets in advance here.

9:      July 25- Sunsets & Silhouettes – Advanced Photography Class – Michigan City, IN

Join Stephen Lehman and Rainstorm Photo for this advanced photography class. Learn how to photograph people during the different lights at sunset. This is a great class to take in conjunction with our Basic Sunset Photography Class, but it is not necessary to take the other class first if you feel you already have a strong set of photography skills. Class will meet at the concession area of North Pointe Pavilion (Sunset Grille). You will have a brief instruction before heading out to the beach for hands on help. Purchase your tickets in advance here. We will reschedule if weather does not cooperate.

10:      July 26- Reggae & Red Stripes Harbor Party & Cruise – Michigan City, IN

Join us for Reggae & Red Stripes on July 26 for Reggae music, delicious Jamaican buffet, some red stripes…and for those who want…a sunset cruise! Others can hang out on the harbor for the evening. For ticket options or to purchase tickets visit us here.

11:      July 27- Gatsby at the Gardens – Michigan City, IN

Step into a Great Gatsby Garden Party!

Enjoy a speakeasy evening set in the 1920’s. Stroll the gardens, sip some giggle water, play bocce or badminton, or cut the rug while listening to live jazz. Put on the ritz for this event! It’s bound to be the bee’s knees. Each ticket includes: 4 cocktail sample tickets, beer samples and light appetizers. Purchase your tickets in advance here.

Next Month! August 1- Mediterranean Dinner Dunes Cruise – Michigan City, IN

Come aboard the Emita II in Michigan City for a sunset cruise! Join your hosts Harbor Country Adventures, Burn Em Brewing, Chickpea Fresh Mediterranean and Dig the Dunes.

Mediterranean food and beer stations will be set up around the boat. Grab a table or walk around and enjoy the views from both the upper outdoor deck or lower enclosed deck.

Price includes 4 beer samples, 4 food stations and the sunset cruise. Welcome beer upon boarding. There will also be a cash bar available. Purchase your tickets in advance here.
