It’s the most wonderful time of the year! That’s right, it’s December and we’ve handpicked the top events of the month just for you. Check out the Christmas lights, finish your shopping, take a class or relax with a winter hike. Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season!

1:        December 7 ~ The Collective Holiday Artisan Market ~ LaPorte, IN
Shop curated one-of-a-kind, handcrafted + up-cycled finds at The Collective Holiday Artisan Market. Live music, local food + bar. Craft beer by Burn ‘Em Brewing, Food by Olga’s Place Pizzeria and Restaurant & Bare Bones, Coffee by FLUID Coffeebar & Live Music by Robert Rolfe Feddersen! Santa will be onsite from 11-3, so bring the kiddos! $5 admission for ages 13+. All ages are welcome. A portion of admission fees will be donated to the La Porte Jaycees’ Deserving Children’s Shopping Tour.


2:        December 7 ~ Mistletoe Market 2019 ~ Chesterton, IN
This outdoor holiday shopping event will take place in the footprint of the Chesterton European Market, located in beautiful downtown Chesterton, with some of our Traditional vendors as well as Special Guests! Free to public.


3:        December 8 ~ Dig the Dunes Calendar Release Party ~ Michigan City, IN 

Join us for our 4th annual calendar release party! Come on out for some holiday cheer, meet the winners, grab your calendars and Dig the Dunes merch…and do some holiday shopping at Patina Vintage Goods! Complimentary beer, wine & light apps.


4:        December 11 ~ Create Your Own Wine Cork Ornaments ~ Valparaiso, IN  

Holiday Fun with Dig the Dunes! Head on over to Anderson’s Winery for some holiday cheer! Create wine cork ornaments and more! We will have all the materials for several wine cork designs, a starfish design and your very own beach in a ball (complete with Lake Michigan beach glass). Each person will walk away with four different ornaments. Make the perfect little ornaments to hang on your tree or give as a gift. You will also receive a Dig the Dunes charm to put on an ornament or to keep for yourself! Tickets can be purchased in advance here. Cost includes a glass of wine.


5:        December 14 ~ Swedish Pancake Breakfast ~ Porter, IN
Join The Dunes Learning Center for a festive Swedish Pancake Breakfast! Enjoy Swedish lingonberry pancakes and potato sausage while listening to Swedish folk songs and carols. After you eat, head over to Chellberg Farm to see the animals, tour the farmhouse, and enjoy “Holiday Traditions in the Dunes,” presented by Friends of Indiana Dunes and Indiana Dunes National Park. Breakfast will be served in two seating’s, 10am and 11am. Purchase your tickets online ahead of time – limited quantity available at the door. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time here. 


6     December 14 ~ Beer and Wine Lovers Holiday Bazaar ~ Michigan City, IN

Beer, wine and holiday shopping! What more could you ask for? Join us for our second annual beer & wine lovers holiday bazaar! Stop into 100 Washington on December 14 between 2-5 and do some shopping. While you are there, sample a nice variety of beer and wine from some of our favorite distributors. Your $10 entry fee includes a trip to the bar for free samples of beer and wine! (Cost will be $15 at the door, so plan ahead!) Purchase your tickets here!


7:        December 14 – 15 ~ Christmas at the Mill ~ Hobart, IN
Take a winter walk around the park and see the mill decorated for the season. Also stop in the park’s gift shop to make an ornament, buy hot chocolate and finish your Christmas shopping. Wood’s Historic Grist Mill and park gift shop will be open 10-5pm both Saturday and Sunday.


8:        December 15 ~ Horse Drawn Carriages at Fish Camp ~ Michigan City, IN

Antique Coach & Carriage Rides! Available to anyone dining at Fish Camp during times of the rides. First come, first serve. Show your dinner receipt and ride for $10 person. Rides will circle around to view the Christmas Festival of Lights. Blankets provided. Johnny V will be playing in the bar as he does every Sunday- perhaps with a few Christmas Carols to get us in the spirit! Come out for this unique holiday experience at Fish Camp!


9:      December 21 ~ Winter Solstice Hike and Campfire ~ Beverly Shores, IN

Join a ranger for a late afternoon hike at the Kemil Beach IN parking lot. Catch the sunset and enjoy sweeping views of the Great Marsh from the top of the Dune Ridge Trail. Celebrate the shortest day of the year. The Kemil Beach parking lot is located one mile north of U.S. Highway 12 on East State Park Road (300E). 10: THE ENTIRE MONTH OF DECEMBER ~ A Christmas Story Comes Home Exhibit ~ Hammond, IN
Come into the “A Christmas Story” Comes Home exhibit from November 9th to December 31st to see the six animatronic original window displays from Macy’s in New York! Each display depicts a different scene from the iconic Christmas movie. This exhibit will also have photo’s with Santa on weekends, decorated Christmas trees to vote on, craft stations, a stocked gift shop, and multiple special events.
