Step inside Michigan City’s newest hi-tech Tap House
Submitted by: Laura Niemiec
Are you looking for an oasis to beat the summer heat? Tap House in Michigan City may be just what you are searching for. With 24 taps pouring brew and wine, you can’t go wrong at the newest watering hole in town owned and operated by the Rios Family.
You might not expect much driving past this self-pour establishment but this place isn’t a drive by. Upon entering, you will notice a mix of industrial and modern design along with a wall of taps. What’s better than a beer on tap? Pouring your own of course!
A hostess will greet you and ask for your ID. After your info has been entered you will get your ID back along with a pour pass (a small white card the size of a credit card). This card will be yours to keep and your key for tracking pours and food orders.
Now it’s time to grab a glass and decide on a brew. Can’t make up your mind? Tap House charges by the ounce so pour as little or as much as you want. All prices are displayed on the screens as well as the ABV. Decide on a beverage, slide in your card and pour away. Don’t forget to tip your glass to get a nice pour!
Hungry? The menu is small but delicious. Choose from nachos, pizza, or quesadillas and customize them to your hearts content. I am already hooked on the nachos with chicken.
Got a drink? Food on order? Have a seat inside or wander out to the patio for a more laid back vibe. This is a great place to gather with family and friends any night of the week. When you’re ready to leave, return to the hostess desk, place your pour pass on the card reader and pay your tab. It’s as easy as that.
