The Ritz Klub Tavern

Michigan City’s oldest tavern established in 1890

Sylvester Komasinski started the business as the Buffet Polski around 1890. Some time later in the 1940's John Komasinski changed the name to the Ritz Klub and operated the business with his wife Cecilia. John and Cecilia ran the tavern until the 1970's and then brother Richard and sister Phyllis took over the operation of the tavern until May of 2020.

As of June 1st, 2020 the Ritz Klub is under new ownership by a Michigan City native, Benjamin Roule. Ironically Ben delivered beer to the Ritz Klub years ago and the tavern was a long time customer of his family's beer distribution business, Laporte County Beverage and then later Metro Beverage.

Ben has extensive experience in the beer industry and as a successful entrepreneur.

Ben understands the importance and ties the Ritz Klub has to the local community and plans to continue the historic legacy and local following the Komasinski's have created for the tavern.

To put it simply, there may be some new paint on the walls and some new faces behind the bar but the Ritz will be that place where everyone feels welcome!

 - Cheers to you!! -
