Join Dig the Dunes and several other local businesses for a day of fun and creating in the dunes. Saturday, March 5 from 12-6 will be the first area-wide “Makers Market”.
What is the Makers Market? It’s a one-day event that gives you the opportunity to visit several local businesses and create something special at each location. Go in any order, go to just one…or go to all of them. The choice is up to you! Get 5 stamps on your Makers Market card and you will be entered into our raffle. Get all 6 and head to Trail Stop (Portage Lakefront) for you free gift.
Here’s the line-up:
Lubeznik Center for the Arts, 101 W. 2nd Street, Michigan City. This is a great place to start! Lubeznik will be making mixed media collage notebooks and custom buttons for $5. They will also have free snacks and coffee and they invite you to tour their brand new exhibition “LatinXAmerican” while you are there.
Over Yonder! Dunes Gift Shop, 12 E. Dunes Hwy, Beverly Shores. At Over Yonder you will paint beach stones with Deb Lines. Deb will give you all sorts of tips to make this special gift, garden marker or secret stone to be left for someone to discover on a hike. This activity will be $10 and will include all materials.
Break for a late lunch at Goblin & The Grocer, 1 W. Dunes Hwy. Beverly Shores and join Angie Jackson as she teaches you the art of cocktail making. $10 will get you a mini cocktail mixing class and a delicious drink to go with it. Learn how to create the Gal Elxers. Not 21? Kids can hang in the restaurant and enjoy a snack and kiddie cocktail.
Pieces of Jayde will be set up in their new location at 1587 Calumet in Chesterton where Jayde herself will teach you how to make a wire wrapped pendant for just $10. Join in on her Grand Opening activities while you are there and walk away with a beautiful necklace.
While in Chesterton be sure to head over to Ash & Aspen at 206 S. Calumet. At this stop you will make your very own wooden gnome. These adorable little creatures can be made to match your decor. Wrap a beard, choose a hat, add don’t forget that gnome nose! You can create the gnome for just $10.
Finally, You’ll want to consider making Dig the Dunes Trail Stop your last stop, 1000 Riverwalk Drive, Portage. Trail Stop will be open at noon, but from 3-6 there will be a wine & chocolate tasting and live music with Marco Villareal (show your card and get in for just $15, regular price is $20). They will also be creating macrame key chains with a Dig the Dunes charm for $10. Trail Stop is also where you will hand in your card to get your free gift if you have all six stamps.
Can’t make it to all six spots? That’s okay! Head to a few that look like they might be your favorites and support these local businesses. If you get at least five stamps you can turn in your card to the last spot you attend and it will be entered in a raffle the following week. Winners will be notified by e-mail.
So head on out to the dunes and make your mark at the very first Dig the Dunes Makers Market!
