Coffee | Market | Wine Bar to open in Beverly Shores early 2019

Why did the chicken cross the road? To get from The Goblin and the Grocer to Hobgoblin!

We’re not talking about chickens here, what we are talking about is Dawn Huston’s vision.

The Goblin and the Grocer will be a coffee, market and wine bar at the corner of Dunes Hwy. 12 and  Broadway in Beverly Shores. It is slated to open in early 2019 and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Expect salads, soups, seafood and more. Dawn’s hope for The Goblin and the Grocer is that it be a hub for the community. “have coffee and a meeting in the morning.” Dawn said, “and then come back in the evening with your family for a glass of wine and charcuterie!”.

Huston will source as much as she can locally. There will be a garden in the back with lots of home grown herbs and vegetables. She will purchase much of her food from local shops like Red Cup (cupcakes), Lucrezia (olive oil) and Lange’s (cheeses). There will be an outdoor patio and plenty of indoor seating.

So, why did the chicken cross the road?

Well, maybe not the chicken….but YOU will want to cross the road because right across the street is Hobgoblin! Hobgoblin is a boutique liquor store that is open NOW. Currently you can find a large selection of wines (95% of them are not found in grocery stores), craft beer and all your higher end liquors. The exciting part is that once The Goblin and the Grocer is open, the two places will work in tandem, allowing you to taste a variety of wine at the restaurant. Then, when you are done with your meal, you can purchase bottles of your favorite wine right from your table and just cross the street to pick it up!

Dawn is excited for the Goblin and the Grocer to open, but she is keeping busy at Hobgoblin for the time being. She loves talking to customers and getting ideas for the restaurant. She’s also scheduled tastings at the shop on the 2nd Friday of each month. September 14 will be a fall preview with sommelier, Simon Barrios.

“I love that everybody is so friendly here in the dunes” said Dawn “this is an open, accepting community and we are so happy to be a part of it. We look forward to giving something back.”

So now you know why the chicken crossed the road. But which came first? The chicken or the egg. 🙂
