Sunday, May 22, was the Farm to Table – Fresh from the Region event held at Reder Park in Schererville, Indiana. This beautiful event was held to celebrate the Town of Schererville’s 150th Anniversary and to jump start the summer season of the newly re-vamped Schererville Farmers Market. Well, I couldn’t have started my summer off with a better event, I am really looking forward to making my way back out to Schererville again, or as my new friends Laurie Box and Tom Schmidt (Schererville Town Councilman) called it “Cheery-Ville” (and I couldn’t agree more). Dinner was put together by Bartlett’s Gourmet Grill using “Fresh from the Region” ingredients.

The meats for the charcuterie boards were donated by Welch’s Stop and Shop (St. John, IN) and also a portion of the fresh meats were donated by Welch’s and Acorn Farms in Chesterton. The produce for the dinner was also donated by Acorn Acres Farm (Chesterton, IN). Designer Desserts sweetened the night with their delicious cupcake donation. The menu was paired with craft beers and wine donated from local breweries and wineries, who will be vendors each week at the market!

The Farm To Table Feel was set by Sandpaper. Sandpaper donated the decor, including a personalized door for the event. Table-scape Centerpieces designed by Ambiance Your Home. Your Story. Farm Fresh Centerpieces were also designed by Ambiance Your Home. Your Story. Monica Jimenez-Susoreny, from Jump Start PR took a minute to speak with me about the future of the Schererville Famers Market at Reder Park and more fun events the town is going to see. This summer starting June 2nd through the end of September, on every Thursday from 3pm to 8pm a wide variety of vendors from the region: bakers, brewers, farmers and crafters will provide you will their freshest and finest of goods. To top it all off, starting at 6pm (EVERY THURSDAY) live entertainment will accompany the locally crafted beer and wine garden.

In addition to the Thursday markets, there will be Sunday Funday’s held once a month that will feature a different theme to promote family, fun and being eco-friendly. The first #sundayfunday, Recycle, Reuse, and Renew – Environment Day celebration; will be held on June 5th, 11am – 5pm. Along with the vendors from the market being in attendance, adults and kids of all ages are welcome to participate in fun activities to fit that month’s theme while enjoying live music. There will be activities at every #SundayFunday that are specific to each theme. Sandpaper will participate in a DIY painting workshop on their Family #sundayfunday which will be held on September 18, 11am – 5pm.

You can follow Schererville Farmer’s Market on Facebook or visit their website to learn more about future #sundayfundays and other summer events

Bravo to all involved! Dig the Dunes is really looking forward to visiting the new market!

Sorry I had to hear about this after the fact and I live within walking distance of the Park. Sincerely hope this year’s Farmers Market is better than in past years. Griffith’s Friday market has put them to shame.
