November 2, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm$5.00 – $8.00
Christmas tree lights will be the only source of illumination during Barker Mansion’s annual Glowing Lights Nights.
The public is invited to take a self-guided tour of all three floors of the historic home, which has been decorated for the holiday season by local non-profit groups. Following a walk through the mansion, guests can vote for their favorite Christmas tree; the winning non-profit group will receive a cash prize to help further their mission.
Michigan City local Anthony Holt will be playing Christmas carols on the Drawing Room piano throughout the event.
Another highlight of the evening will be the opportunity to view a train display set up in the third-story ballroom by Hesston Steam Museum which features the smallest working steam engine in their collection.
The Barker Mansion is located at 631 Washington Street in Michigan City, IN. The 38-room mansion was built by freight car industrialist and philanthropist John H. Barker in 1905. Cost is $8 per adult and $5 per youth, ages 15 and under. You can purchase tickets online here.
