Curator of the Kurt Vonnegut Museum teams up with Algren Museum of Miller Beach for a special event.

Friday, October 9 will be the first Nelson Algren Museum of Miller Beach event of 2020 featuring the curator of the Kurt Vonnegut Museum & Library from Indianapolis. Curator Chris LaFave will discuss the life and writings of Vonnegut and touch on the friendship of Vonnegut and Algren from their time together at the 1965 University of Iowa Writers Workshop to Algren’s death in 1981.

Chris LaFave will touch on the friendship of Vonnegut & Algren.

The event will take place across the street from the Algren Museum at the Marshall J. Gardner Center at 540 S. Lake Street, Miller Beach/Gary, Indiana at 7:00 pm. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Entrance is $10 at the door. Parking is available in a large free lot to the south of the Gardner Center.

A traveling exhibit from the Vonnegut Museum is on display at the Gardner Center featuring a desk and typewriter similar to what Vonnegut used, iPads loaded with archived images, doodles, notes, manuscripts and videos of Vonnegut at various speaking engagements, amid standing displays of his work.”
