Brew at the Zoo – Michigan City

June 14, 2015

Last night was the Washington Park Zoological Society’s “Brew at the Zoo”.

It turned out to be a lovely evening. The storms held off and the temperature was perfect to stroll the grounds of Michigan City’s Washington Park Zoo. When we entered we received a large glass mug and were greeted by a snake and a small alligator.

Lines were not too long, so it was nice to be able to chat with vendors about their food and beverage. They were very happy to talk about what they were serving and how it was made. Throughout the tour, I enjoyed food and drink from Spire, Arturos, Burn’Em Brewing, Running Vines, Shoreline, Twisted K-8, Backroads, Ryans, Bulldog (which you can read more about here.) and Triton. Indiana Beverages was also on hand with a nice selection of beer and wine. Live music played in the background and a chorus of birds joined in on the fun.

Where else can you be greeted by an alligator?

Those that attended were able to sit back and sip on some great beer while enjoying the animals.

As usual, Burn ‘Em brewery had a wide variety of unique beer, “IPA’d My Pants” being one of my favorites. On June 20th they will have their first annual party!

This gentleman from Triton is holding up one of my all time favorites, Railsplitter IPA.
