Arcadia on the Right Track with hiring of Chef Gary Sanders.
Arcadia on the Lake, housed in the old train depot in Michigan City, appears to finally be on the right track.
The restaurant, which has struggled in the past to find an identity and good staff, has hired Chef Gary Sanders to “revamp and rescue”. Sanders, best known for his success with Miller Bakery Cafe and Bartlett’s Gourmet Grill is well known in NWI. He has been able to take unlikely restaurant spots and turn them into extremely popular destinations. He feels with Arcadia located right along with waterfront, this should be an easy task.
Chef Gary plans to give the restaurant a more casual feel. He will have a bar menu, a brunch menu and will open up for lunch once they get rolling. There will be “Tiki Tuesday” ($5 tiki drinks), live music outside on the patio on Sundays and they are going to kick off the summer with a Rosé Party on Thursday, June 20th.
Customers will be able to find everything from oysters and Korean BBQ short ribs to crispy chicken wings, flatbreads and even the Bartlett’s famous cheese & crackers. (you can see a full menu here). Sanders hopes to spend a lot more time in the kitchen, something he hasn’t done for the past few years at Bartlett’s. He looks forward to training the staff and is thrilled to bring along his frontman Hugh Kirk. “Everyone who went to Bartlett’s knows and loves Hugh”, said Gary. “It was imperative that he came along for the ride.”
All aboard! The journey begins….
