Americana Music Fest to come to Acorn Theater
Attention Music Lovers!
The first annual Americana Music Fest is happening at the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks MI on July 14.
What is Americana music? For those that don’t know, Americana, as defined by the Americana Music Association (AMA), is “contemporary music that incorporates elements of various mostly acoustic American roots music styles, including country, roots-rock, folk, gospel and bluegrass resulting in a distinctive roots-oriented sound that lives in a world apart from the pure forms of the genres upon which it may draw. While acoustic instruments are often present and vital, Americana also often uses a full electric band.” To us? It’s just really great music that helps bring people together!
The line up for this year’s fest will include headliner Chicago Farmer (featuring a full rocking band), Ryan Joseph Anderson, The Blisters (featuring Spencer Tweedy) and Monte Pride & Vanessa Gerber. The music fest is being put together by Greg Gerber and Donnie Biggins, who helped with the booking of the bands. Their goal was to bring a little something for everyone.
“We wanted to start out smaller this year” said Gerber, “but if it is successful, we see it growing every year. Longer hours, stages outside, it could end up being a full day event with multiple acts, food trucks and more!”
Gerber sees this year’s event as a concert with really good music. Over the course of the night each act will play individually but then also join forces and work together. They will all get their own time but at the end of the night his vision is to have everyone up on stage together, true Americana style.
Tickets for the music fest are $25 for general admission and $50 for VIP. VIP tickets will get entry into the fest an hour early and you will be able to have a meet & greet before the show, a drink and a print of this year’s poster. More information can be found here.
