David Hoppe is an award-winning writer, journalist and playwright. His books include Personal Indianapolis and Food For Thought: An Indiana Harvest. His play about the Indiana Dunes, Sacred Sands, has been recorded for installation at the National Lakeshore Portage River Walk. And now, his one man show “After Paul McCartney” is coming to the Dunes Summer Theater.
“After Paul McCartney” is a play about friendship, art, and how fame can make everything weird. It’s the story of two friends, a lounge singer who is a master of the Lennon-McCartney songbook and his partner, a husband and dad who discovers he is up for one more great adventure. Together, they go in search of Paul McCartney – to help the Beatle who changed their lives, and to thank him.
Jeffrey Baumgartner, who is also the artistic director at Dunes Summer Theatre plays 8 different roles as well as the narrator. John Green is director. Greene teaches at Columbia College in Chicago, where he leads the Masters program in International Theatre. He has directed productions throughout the U.K., Europe and Australia. John directed previous productions of After Paul McCartney at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland and at the Indiana Repertory Theatre.
“After Paul McCartney” will be performed at the Dunes Summer Theatre, 288 Shady Oak Dr. in Michigan City (46360) on Friday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7pm; on Sunday, Sept. 16 at 2pm; and Sept. 21 and 22 at 7pm.
