1,000 local families in NWI received Thanksgiving dinner fixings in time for the big day thanks to Injury Attorney Kenneth J. Allen and United Way.
With the help of more than 60 volunteers, North Township Trustee’s Office, Boys and Girls Club Northwest Indiana, United Way of Porter County and Lake Area United Way distributed 1,000 make-at-home dinners. Each dinner consisted of a 10-to-12 lb. turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans and a pie.
“Practicing law in Northwest Indiana has been a true blessing, and I want to share my blessing with others,” Mr. Allen said. “I hope others who can step up will and recognize the need to give back to the community so that no person goes hungry, especially on Thanksgiving.”
Residents meeting specific income requirements were eligible to receive a dinner voucher. Families picked up their Thanksgiving feast on Monday, November 19 at Wicker Park Social Center and South Haven Boys & Girls Club.
“We can’t thank our partners and volunteers enough for making this special project happen,” said Kim Olesker, President & CEO of United Way of Porter County. “We are incredibly thankful for their assistance in helping those in need.”
